DJ HAPA
Hapa has performed all around the world for almost 20 years, and he is still making an impact on the DJ scene and beyond. His list of achievements is long and diverse, ranging from multiple stays on the Hollywood circuit to his assistance in launching musicians like the Far*East Movement. He’s made a name for himself outside of the club scene, and some of the biggest events and businesses, like Target, HP, Beats by Dre, Ducati, Microsoft, ESPN, Red Bull, Viceroy, and W Hotels, now choose him.
As he selected the daily music for the Emmy Award-winning KTLA Morning Show, Hapa made history in 2007 by being the first DJ to appear on the morning news every day. In an ongoing endeavor to push his artistic abilities, Hapa has begun creating music for businesses and locations (Hotel Erwin, Venice Beach) seeking a distinctive, personalized sound experience. Hapa established Feel GOOD Sound in Los Angeles in 2011 in an effort to clarify the sound that he and his contemporaries were producing musically.
In order to provide the audience with an experience they can “feel,” DJs and musicians work together on stage during the event series. Within five months of the launch, Hapa not only created a production that encompasses an atmosphere without musical bounds, but also garnered over 10 million impressions on Twitter using the hashtag #feelgoodsound. “I want to share this ‘Feel Good Sound’ with everyone,” Hapa stated. “Good music is for everyone.” Hapa most recently collaborated with engineers in Santiago, Chile to create QnQ, a transparent, multi-touch, large format DJ performance solution that he thinks will revolutionize the DJ industry.
In the US, Hapa has started integrating technology into his performances and is beginning to popularize the concept of seeing what the DJ is truly up to while they are performing. At the moment, Hapa serves as the National Brand Director for the esteemed Scratch DJ Academy, which has campuses in Miami, Los Angeles, and New York. The renowned Jam Master Jay of RUN DMC started the Academy in 2002, and it is his ongoing legacy. Under Hapa’s leadership, the Academy has expanded to become the global leader in DJ education and is still working to improve the caliber of DJs everywhere.
